The Philippine Computer Society is a premiere organization of information technology professionals with over 700 members nationwide.

PCS recognizes the invaluable contribution of IT to the advancement of our nation. Since its formation in 1967, PCS has spearheaded local and international activities which strive to continuously promote, protect and enhance the members of the IT profession. In 1978, PCS became a founder-member of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC). SEARCC is composed of the national computer societies from Australia, Hongkong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. PCS is also a founding member of the Information Technology Foundation of the Philippines (ITFP) organized last 1992.

If you’re going to spend hours developing a web site, isn’t it smart to invest some time to insure you’re focusing on the most traffic laden keywords?

Especially when typically the plural form of a keyword phrase generates way more traffic than the singular form. For example “dog dishes” rather than “dog dish”.

Yet just this week I was asked to look at a site that had focused on the singular form. Evidently the owner hadn’t bothered to do any digging to make sure that was their best keyword move.

I’m not a fan of Vista (Money Maker) I’m not shocked why Windows Vista, Microsoft’s second-worst operating system ever (Windows Millennium is the all time cellar dweller) isn’t exactly flying off the shelves. The numbers are positively grim: Compared to Windows XP’s original release, Vista sold 59 percent fewer copies in its first week. (Because Vista is so ungodly expensive, sales in dollar volume is only 32 percent lower.)

Best Free Download Manager

You have several good choices in this category. To me a good downloader is one that does the job, is well integrated into your browser and is not intrusive.

That’s why my top recommendation for some time has been Star Downloader [1]. Unfortunately the freeware version has been effectively frozen at version 1.44 with future enhancements restricted to the shareware version. It is however, still a fine choice.

Best Free RSS Reader/Aggregator

Defining a best in this category is tough as different users have very different priorities. For some users, display readability and easy subscription is everything while to others, the level of blog integration is the most important attribute.

I fall firmly in the first category. To me RSS is just another information source not a way of life.

Indeed the most important feature in a reader to me is the ability to easily click on a number of interesting items from an integrated display and have a stacked series of Windows relating to the items open in a browser for later reading. That way I can scan quickly for items of interest but read the items at my leisure.
