Don't Let Scammers Steal Your Hard Earned Cash!
By David Gates
How many times have you read about someone who was sucked in by an unscrupulous scammer?
Do you want to know how you can avoid being next? Ask yourself: Are You About to Be Scammed?
(how do you know which home business opportunities are scams and which ones are not?) It's
really very simple, you just need to remember a few basic rules.
Most scams initially sell themselves as Home Business Opportunities. There is an easy way
to weed out the more obvious scams from the beginning. Where did they contact you from? Have
you signed up to any reputable work from Home business mailing lists? No? Well then, proceed
with caution, because if they have nothing to hide they'll contact you through clear channels.
Does the promised reward sound too good to be true? Like this?
"You the 999,999 visitor. Congratulations! You won $1,000,000"
"You won a trip in Hawaii Congratulations! Claim Your Prize Here"
"Wow! You just won a lottery ticket and it's worth a MILLION!"
Sadly, if it sounds too good to be true, it's probably is. A non-legitimate home
based business will never bring you these kinds of rewards, unfortunately. Besides, if making
millions of dollars was this easy, wouldn't more people be millionaires?
Maybe the work from home business offer has passed these two tests. Fine, but it still
pays to be cautious. Are You About to Be Scammed? (How do you know which home business
opportunities are scams and which ones are not?) Another instant red flag is a scheme
which requires you to pay money before they'll give you more information. If they were
reputable, why would they require money before giving you enough information to make an
informed choice?
Just another thing to be aware of: many business ideas which seem reputable and legitimate
will require you to spend a lot of money on set-up and equipment. Are you confident enough that
the business will work that you want to spend a lot of money before you've even started earning?
It pays to be constantly vigilant about scams. It can be easy to fall
for one when you are short on cash and looking for an easy way out, or when you simply trust
someone because they seem like a nice person. This is how scammers operate!
Is there a way I can avoid this?
Of course! There are some site that offers or give advise and it helps a lot on stopping those scammers.
Ask for questions on Government websites that that are responsible on stopping this crime like:
Federal Citizen Information Center - Database of scam, fraud and recall resources.
Fraud.org - National Internet Fraud Watch Information Center.
Federal Bureau of Investigation - The FBI's advice for avoiding Internet business fraud.
You may not want to be suspicious of everyone who pitches a business idea to you,
but unfortunately it is the only way to avoid being ripped off. Keep you wits about you,
think long and hard before committing to anything, and do your research.
If you are strict with yourself and always approach any business proposition with
a businesslike perspective, and do not let your emotions come into play, you can go a
long way towards avoiding being scammed. Don't let scammers get their hands on your cash!
