been using ubuntu 6.xx ... ngayon ubuntu 8.xx na ako ...

have tried several linux distro (slackware, mandriva, fedora, debian etc) ...

but i found ubuntu to be more easier to use ...

by the way ubuntu is based from debian/gnu

the best way is to try them out using the live cd's ...

this way you dont need to install in your harddrive but still get the full working operating system on a cd which you can install later ...

they come in different desktop managers too ...

for example ubuntu is using the gnome desktop environment, kubuntu is using kde but both are based from the same debian/gnu line ...

the best so far i have tried is gnome and in terms of flexibility is fluxbox menus ... pwede ka kasi mag customize ng sarili mong menus depending on the profile you would be creating or using

if you dont need the gui and just rely in terminal mode (dos mode in linux) ... wala akong masasabi sa yo kundi hardcore addict linux user ka ... hehehe ...

but then thats what open source is all about
